Domaine René Engel
I drank this wine with Clive Coates hours before a Romanee Conti/Leroy/Vogue tasting...much can be attributed to the grandeur of the vintage, but, Engel was something special. A very solid wine that is most likely starting to hit its prime.

A nice Pinot Noir but wouldn't say a fantastic one. I'm fussy with my Pinot's and this one seemed rather warm and thin, slightly raspberry like but a real sharpness to it that took away the enjoyment slightly. Maybe overpriced in my book. Read More

1999 was an awesome vintage for red burgundy! This Vosne Romanée was definitely drunk too young but it always is something special to be able to drink some wine made by the late René Engel. Extremely powerful albeit a rather delicate pinot noir extraction. Beautiful vino! Read More
