Cotes du Rhone. It’s a surprisingly well known wine in a world where the wines people are generally more comfortable with come with varietal designations as opposed to regional ones. Sure there are Chianti, and Bordeaux, but how many other regional appellations are most people familiar with? And is there any other that is exclusively focused on ... Read More
So we have some interest in having a West Coast meet-up (or you can call it a throw-down) for Pinot. Here's my opening proposal: We'll do it very close to the Oakland Airport, to save those who are traveling in from out of town (like Emark and JonDerry) from having extra travel if they want to fly. This would give LuchaVino a chance to attend... Read More
Soo... based on some other threads, the topic of Burgundies vs. CA pinots has arisen. I, being a French virgin, would love to hear more about burgundies. They are NOT my expertise at all... and to be honest, I have only tasted one, and it ended up being oxidized (sommelier agreed). My expertise tends to lie with Northern California coastal pin... I really enjoyed this ice apple wine. I was curious to discover why it had won over 50 gold medals. Great with a plate of fine cheeses! Read More
I've gotten a lot of flack for some of my opinions about these 2007 Bordeaux. While there certainly are many poor 2007s, the vintage is not a complete wash-out. Good design, but product is weak. Strong taste of alcohol and sulfate. Added flavor and colorant make wine undrinkable with any nice dish. Waste of money. However tube can be used for keeping diploma. Not happy - to expensive for apple juice with alcohol. Read More

I recently (re)watched the movie High Fidelity with John Cusack. The basic premise of the movie is that the lead character goes through his life categorizing things into a Top 5 list. These lists are for any situation or topic. The topics of the lists range from obscure music to life events. So what does the movie have to do with wine? Not ... Read More
