In Chateauneuf du Pape, wine of quality... For Jean-Paul Autard, living and working in harmony with his land corresponds to a quest for perfection, ambitious but honest... Jean-Paul Autard runs the family estate since the age of 17. His choices of grapevines, of vinification and ageing (phenol maturity, total destemming of the harvest, ageing in casks) further his quest for balance. "Strength, richness, elegance and finesse, a great wine from Chateauneuf du Pape should bring together all these qualities, to charm with its persistence and the pleasure it procure". – Description from iskicm

  • Domaine Paul Autard Châteauneuf-du-Pape 1998

The nose showed black fruits and earth with black pepper, animal musk and hints of graphite. On the palate, it showed vibrant acidity with soft ripe berries, earthy minerals and spices. Its a joy to drink and ready to go. The finish showed lingering pepper notes that lasted on the senses. Read More

  • 1998 was the year Chateauneuf-du-Pape finally got some respect. Don’t me wrong, the wine had maintained a loyal following for years, but more often than not the wines were described as rustic, earthy and in quite a few cases, dirty.1998 was the turning point that changed that impression in consumers’ eyes, or at least those consumers who had yet... • Domaine Paul Autard Châteauneuf-du-Pape 1998

Fleshy, lightly sweet red fruit, herb tones, little red licorice. Rather soft on the palate with fully resolved tannins and nice acid. A bit light with a nice mineral aspect on the back end, then it frays just a touch finishing with decent length and some chocolate notes. Quite aromatic, fleshy, round and very giving with a nice green spice thin... Read More

  • Autard Chateauneuf du Pape 2007

This big guy gives hedonistic pleasure. Beautifully balanced with understated acid and tannin. It probably will age gracefully but no sin in pulling the cork now to enjoy the forward fruit. Although 14½% alcohol there is no trace of hotness. We had with beef brisket and it was a marriage made in heaven. May be even better tomorrow. Read More

  • Domaine Paul Autard Red Rhone Blend Côtes du Rhône 2008

Big nose of blackberry and dark cherry. A rather new world style, with notes of blackberry/cherry/licorice, good gripping tannins, and a bit of black pepper on the finish. A blend of 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 5% Mourvedre. Read More
