Domaine Jean-Louis Chave on Snooth

  • Well I have plans to include several Syrahs in this thread over the next 2 weeks but let me begin with one of my favorite Syrah producers. • Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage 1996

    Snoothrank:

Richly aromatic from the moment this is opened offering up an array of gamy tones to the earthy, blackberry fruit. Integrated in the mouth with the acidity seemingly quite tame in comparison to other bottles. Snoothrank:

This is super vegetal/green/earthy all sorts of funk when first opened but after breathing is a divine spicy and complex wine. Pepper, slight earth, and a mysterious savoriness that I had a hard time place but enjoyed the process of trying to figure it out. Is there a bit of chocolate on the finish? Let me go check.
