Domaine Drouhin has been on the viticultural cutting edge in Oregon since our first plantings, and we continue to set the pace. The 90 acres of hillside vineyards that ribbon our 225-acre estate are at the very heart of Domaine Drouhin wines. Philippe Drouhin is in charge of all of the estate vineyards in Oregon & Burgundy & it is his vision & passion that drives our advances & improvements in winegrowing year after year. Situated atop the Dundee Hills, between 400 and 800 feet in elevation, our site was selected for its remarkable similarity in climate, latitude and aspect to the legendary vineyards of Burgundy. DDO places more emphasis on viticulture than most producers in America. Our vines are perhaps the most densely-planted in the New World, with an average of 3,300 plants to the acre. We are also one of the few vineyards in the country to cultivate our own rootstocks and propagate all of our own plant materials. This allows us to further our vineyards with site specific rootstocks Read more »

RC - Yes, we belong to Domaine Drouhin. It's only been a year or so though, so most of the wines we have received are in Sandra's wine racks. I think she wanted to give this one a try. We used to belong to Domaine Serene, which is within walking distance. We enjoy their Pinot also, but their shipping was just way out of bed with other wineri... Read More

Tangerine peel and fresh apple aromas with touches of lemon and honeysuckle on the nose. Smooth, silky textured yet still assertive on the palate, this brings crisp apple and lemon fruit flavors to the fore, sustaining for quite a while before yielding to a short honeyed oats and creamy vanilla finish. 92 pts Read More

RC - There are several 'French Family' wineries in Willamette Valley, ... ago, and replaced it with Domaine Drouhin (very close by). Same high quality wines, from what I can tell anyway. Both wineries make excellent Chardonnay. We joined Soter this year and love their Pinot Noir / Chardonnay too.EM - I agree that cheaper Pinot Noir just do... Read More

"with regard to Pinot Noir, I still prefer the ones from Oregon"You need to drink a lot more Burgundy, and of the others I mentioned, too. ;-) Oregon's getting there but still on the road, not yet fully arrived IMHO, even if I enjoy many of theirs. Was writing on these boards about Soter and Drouhin, for example, last decade. I certainly comm... Read More

More wine allocations tonight - Duckhorn and Domaine Drouhin. Life is getting better. The Duckhorn Canvasback utilized fruit from Red Mountain! I can't wait to drink that one but I will wait until our neighbors come over for a wine dinner on 15 April, 2017. Can't wait too long.... Read More

Despite my somewhat feeble attempts trying to find US wine in Australia is frustratingSo I think I would like to build a list of high Quality but not astronomic priced wines my American Snooth Colleagues would suggest I look out forBare in mind that if it is from a very small niche producer I would need to know how I can source it in AustraliaSo... You mentioned "corporate" above, which I got a glimpse of in the documentary "sour grapes", the Rudy K story, where they showed Ponsot at a harvest party that seemed, well, kinda corporate. That seemed pretty incongruous to me for a Domaine in Burgundy. Though I wouldn't have batted an eye had it been Jadot, Drouhin, or Bouchard/Fevre. Read More

My big day mixing in the wine world as I've kind of helped break this news, owing to a friend of mine who is close to Laurent Ponsot. Same friend from the Netherlands who GregT and I tasted with in San Diego. Anyhow, Peter from WS contacted me this morning for info and I was able to speak with him right after he spoke to Laurent and before the s... Read More
