Chateau de la Croix is a wine produced in Plautignan, a “lieux dit” north of St. Estephe in the Medoc in Bordeaux, France. Principal winemaker is Jean Francisco, whose family has produced wines at the estate since the late 19th century. The wines are produced using traditional methods and reflect the personality of the rich, local terroir. They are labeled as “Medoc Cru Bourgois,” and are value-driven wines for everyday enjoyment that match with a variety of foods.

  • Interestingly, found a Montebello edged out a Dunn from the same mature vintage recently, though both could've been WOTN, with very tough competition from the Musigny. Two meals, one seafood and white, the 2nd red meat and red wine. Every single bottle gets my *buy* recommendation. Interestingly, was down in the tropics just north of the equator... Read More

  • In past posts here on the Forum I have confessed that I regularly drink inexpensive wines.  In fact, I have been doing less of that, lately, but last night I picked one out of the rack that, pretty much, blew me away;  Epicuro 2009 Salice Salentino -- US$4.99 at Trader Joe's.This wine is a blend of Negroamaro (80%) and Malvasia Nera (20%) grapes...
