The Di Majo Norante winery is located on the estate of the Marquis Norante of Santa Cristina in the region of Molise, along on the Adriatic Sea between Puglia and Abruzzo. The cultivation of vines in this area dates back to 500 BC when the region was inhabited by the Sanniti and the Osci, two pre-Roman civilizations. The estate has been winegrowing since the 1800’s. Massive investment was made in the cellar and vineyards in the 1960’s. A modern winery was constructed and vineyards were replanted in the Ramitello area. Di Majo Norante on Snooth

  • Emark - you got it. If they have Zinfandel, they shouldn't also list it by ... by ... on wine grapes.BTW, Di Majo Norante is a good producer of inexpensive but very drinkable wines. Nothing extraordinary, but the kind of stuff that should be poured as house wine in more cafes and restaurants. And you got the Aglianico too - that chocolate bit... Read More

  • Di Majo Norante Ramitello 2011

    Snoothrank:

Quite modest nose. I can detect some berry fruit and some herbals. On the tongue, there is a brief encounter with blueberry flavor, but that is quickly overcome by earthiness, or, maybe, dark chocolate bitterness. Then, I realize that this wine is seriously tannic. Fairly low acid. A wine that begs for food accompaniment, and I dont think it... Read More

  • Di Majo Norante Sangiovese Molise 2011

    Snoothrank:

This 100% Sangiovese from the obscure province of Molise is a fine exemplar of good quality and reasonable price for every day drinking by all but the most destitute. Sweet cherry licorice whip on the nose with hints of blueberry are followed by a smooth entry of tree bark (oak, no doubt) and Kirsch-like cherry. Great value. 85 points. Read More

    Snoothrank:

This is a relatively inexpensive Sangiovese that has is well balanced with a nice firm structure. Taste of cherry, smoky and laden with fruit that bursts in your mouth. It's the type of wine that starts off light then gets stronger in taste as you swallow. It has an earthy after flavor that is extremely satisfying. Tannins linger to add to the o... Read More

  • Di Majo Norante Cabernet Sauvignon Terre Degli Osci IGT 2011

    Snoothrank:

Earthy and mineral on the nose with smoky overtones to the taut sour plum and red currant fruit. This is sapid on entry, delivering plenty of acid early in the mouth followed by a touch of salty minerality and slightly jammy red currant fruit. the tannins kick in quickly adding some tension in the mouth and adding a slightly woodsy element as we...
