Exceptionally high rainfall (650 mm up to the end of August) made for a lot of work in the vineyards, and imposed some limits on what we could expect. Fungal diseases that we thought were now limited to less favourable climates than the northern Rhône valley returned to our hillsides, locally causing considerable losses in crop. This also slowed down the maturation process, and, in some parts of the DELAS FRERES estate, veraison of grapes only completed around August 20th. This was the case, for example, in plots like Combe Clos, part of Domaine des Grands Chemins, the firm' Read more »

Delas Frères on Snooth

  • Delas Frères Hermitage les Bessards 1995

    Snoothrank:

Fermented tobacco, green olive juice and a nice touch of limestone. Elegant and refined in the mouth with early meaty, gamy juices followed by green tobacco, peppercorn, caper, herb, salt, black olive, mineral, smoke and stem. The structure here is rather light in appearance but firm in nature. The meat juice and green peppercorn notes linger on... Read More

  • Saint Esprit Cote du Rhone Delas 2009

    Snoothrank:

The first bottle (January 2012) was disappointing and angular without the enticing fruit and spice of a Syrah-dominated blend (70%). However, a second tasting (December 2012) shows much better: the nose remains muted with some cherry cola peeking through, but the entry is far more satisfying. There is a more balanced sense of grip with grainy ... Read More

  • Saint Esprit Cote du Rhone Delas 2009

    Snoothrank:

this wine doesn't taste bad, it's just watery, boring, and flat; the nose is non-existent, slight minerality.... why are they making this wine? Read More

  • Delas Frères Red Rhone Blend Côtes du Rhône Saint-Esprit 2007

    Snoothrank:

This is realy deep purple. The first night this bottle was open the tannins and acidity overwhelmed the other flavors in this wine. On the second night the wine had opened up and was showing nice bright cherry and blackberry. This is a great bottle for the price. Read More
