Named 2007 Winemaker of the Year by the Sonoma County Harvest Fair, winemaker Michael Loykasek has been blazing new trails throughout California for the past two decades. Fresh out of U.C. Davis with a degree in enology in 1983, Mike spent 5 years developing his winemaking style in Paso Robles. From there he headed the winemaking program at Meeker Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley. After leaving Meeker, Mike headed up winemaking at Armida Winery. After many successful years making wine Mike decided it was time to let the Dark Horse out of the barn, so to speak. And ever since, he's been hittin' the trails with the Dark Horse. The concept is simple: take small lots of exceptional wine and put it in a package that folks can't help but notice...and have some fun with it along the way! www.darkhorsewine.com PRESS 92 points! Wine Spectator names Dark Horse 2005 Dry Creek Zin, Treborce Vineyard, top-rated California Zinfandel. Featured in BOTH May 2008 and June 30 edition! Dallas Morning News says... • Villa Von Steiner Lagrein 2004

    Snoothrank:

Fantastic penetrating dark purple, all the way thru, what hues? ink black vino. The nose just stinks, wet rocks mixed with onions, soil, even horse manure, I mean this nose is seriously unpleasant and here is where the wine can play mind games with you. The immediate mouth feel is gorgeous, black fruits and such a soft silky mouth feel, you begi... Read More

  • Inniskillin Pinot Blanc Okanagan Valley Vqa Single Vineyard Series Dark Horse Estate Vineyard 2004

    Snoothrank:

A bit heavy duty on the alcohol content (14.5%) for a white, it wasnt overpowering and presented yet again, a different Pinot Blanc presentation. The nose, with bits of pear, peach and grape, was an exact replica of a Delmonte fruit cup; the kind your mom used to put in your school lunches. The palate sharpened in comparison, with apple and citr... Read More
