  • Lamb and Merlot? YUM. Steven, that is an interesting choice. I prefer the D. Ventura wines, the Caneiro in particular, though all three are delicious. They are simply not widely distributed though, so while I can get a variety of them here in NYC, recommending them in the UNLV... Read more

  • Personally wouldn't want to have to crawl in those confines... Is the bottom of the crawl space surfaced, or just earth? Drainage during winter rains remains an issue. Also, if you do use the crawl space be sure to choose an area away from foot traffic on the flooring above. I've... Read more

  • My memory is that they used to have a showroom and vineyards that you could see from 101 which I'd visit at the end of the '80s whenever I had business with some ranches near Cayucos and Cambria, or north of Santa Maria. • D. Ventura Ribeira Sacra Pena Do Lobo 2007

    Snoothrank:

Slight smoke, tar and black cherry on the nose. Tangy black cherry fruit on the palate with good acidity and a medium light body. Bright and has a slight bubble gum fruit on the finish. Not a very long finish, but pleasant with a slight bitterness that I enjoy.

  • Ventura D Vina Do Burato Ribeira Sacra Red 2007

    Snoothrank:

Opening with spicy , sappy red berry fruits and a flourish of sweet herbal tones this if fresh and bright smelling. Gentle though grippy tannins and juicy acids combine for an easy but not soft mouthfeel that highlights the minerally, almost salty red fruits of this crisp,... Read more
