Cove Point Winery is a small boutique winery located in Southern Maryland's Calvert County town of Lusby. The winery is located ~6 miles north of Solomons Island and just a short distance from Cove Point Lighthouse -Maryland's oldest operational lighthouse. Our current vineyard (Cove Point Vineyards) is a small experimental vineyard with plantings of Cayuga White, Chardonnel, Cabernet Franc, Chambourcin, Merlot, NY73 (Noiret), Vidal, Seyval, Foch, Mars, Neptune, Niagara, Catawba, Dornfelder, Blaufrankisch and Symphony vines. We are members of the Maryland Winery Association, the Maryland Grape Growers Association, and the Calvert County Chamber of Commerce. Our goals are to produce a variety of fantastic wines that the non-wine drinker would enjoy, as well as impress the connoisseur. – Description from Alejandro

  • So I am sneaking away to Sonoma for a few days.  I have spent tons of time up in RRV and Sebastopol, and I think I want to revisit the lower valley this time- Kenwood, Glen Ellen...  I would love recommendations for wineries, hotels, motels, vac. rentals, and restaurants.  Sonoma proper would be ok to stay, as is close to those areas.  Plan on h... • Hi Guys:In my ongoing saga of trying to learn how to cook, I'm planning on giving lobster thermidor a whirl soon. I'd like to pair it with 2-3 wines, mostly as a pairing experiment to see which works best. Any ideas? I was thinking I could potentially combine the dinner with the vintage VS NV champagne combo I've been meaning to do...other ideas... Read More

  • http://www.bigtablefarm.com/A new find for me today, and one that seems to warrant sharing. They produce a Rose, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Syrah from 70 Acres. On current release I'm counting a little over 1,000 cases in production. Not bad for a husband (winemaker, Brian Marcy) and wife (Artist, Vineyard Mgr) team.Just from doing some brief o... Read More

  • I generally avoid wine clubs of any sort, even at my favorite wineries--I'm too promiscuous to sign up to drink 12 or 24 botles of someone's wine in a year--but I am a member of Mauritson's Rockpile list, because there's no longer any way to get the Cemetery Zinfandel and good luck getting any of the others, either.  Since I have in-laws up that...
