  • Zuf back to your question, I opened Yves Cuilleron Cote Rotie 2005 today it is delicious balanced good aftertaste it is a wine I would buy again,I do have another bottle, today I am not comparing it against another Syrah, so I guess since I didn’t taste it when I bought it I don’t know if it has gone down hill, but I am enjoying it, the only des... • Yes, I agree with the comments so far.  Of course, some of the Cabs, Zin, Syrah (and similar cepages) will last 25 years - or should - but then, as EM rightly says, the vast majority of even expensive, expertly made wine is intended for consumption within 2 years of release (so, let's say by 5-6 years from harvest).  Then again, many people seek... • Jack, you people were drinking not a small quantum of US dollars down at that ... am not that surprised that a Cote Rotie lost out to Mollydooker.  The powerful flavours just grab you like some brazen beauty might grab your gluteals in a friendly, non-threatening way at some informal, social function.  I have a Cote Rotie in the cellar by a fa... • DV, Lynn and I managed to take a peek at Vessel this afternoon while cruising Oak Bay (sorry, I did not want to invite myself over... left you to recover from a week of work instead).  But on the little store in that quiet little commercial spot at the junction of Pandora and Fort, it is of, I would say, medium size, stock-wise, but owning a gre... • C. C. Jentsch Cellars Syrah 2014

    Snoothrank:

The CC Jentsch Syrah, which is well liked by critics, has the advantage of a wonderful 2014 vintage in the Okanagan Valley of BC. Presentation is quite a deep rich, red. The nose evokes blueberry jam, cake spice (Viognier)... quite a melange of wild red fruit and coniferous needles. Very Cote-Rotie in style. Acidity is good and balanced on e... Read More

  • I’d be in for that tasting as well. Have some 11’Guigal d’Ampuis Cote Rotie to bring, which is 93% Syrah, 7% Viognier, so DV better call this one! Read More

  • That does strike me as strange on the Amarone Jack. Tomasso has been my ... ... wine...thinking of an Ogier Cote Rotie has last year.I have a hard time guessing what is in a Bordeaux, unless it’s very Merlot heavy it’s tough, but I haven’t been drinking much Bordeaux the last few years. While on Bordeaux, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon have quit... Read More

  • Read up on Lindeman's thread, and thought this would be a good topic to discuss. To Greg's point about blending Merlot and sometimes Cabernet in with Chianti blends, I hear that trend had been on the downswing, which is probably a good thing for Chianti proper, though there will be some really good "Super Tuscan's" made from the blending as well.... • This Topic is partially intended to start a new thread on daily wine drinking as the earlier topics are just too long and too general.  How about telling us more about your choices and helping me start a new thread for the next generation, so to speak?  The "why" is the interesting part for some of us - but pictures are always welcome; after all...
