All great wines begin with a great sine. From our early days in St. Helena to our father Roberts’s establishment of his winery in Oakville, my family has recognized due importance of this; Continuum takes the next step. Continuum had to be a hillside site, on the east side of the valley with a westerly aspect. Continuum also needed the right soil; volcanic, iron rich soils no grow wins with great structure, focus and agebillty. Four generations and a lifetime of experience brought us to this estate on Pritchard Hill where the perfect combination of soils, exposure and climate are present to grow wine in the company of the world’s finest. – Description from Dragac

  • So, I was at a pre-performance dinner before an opera this weekend and a fellow diner/patron told me that her household is in love with a wine named Checkerboard. I've read a little on the interwebs and so far it sounds good. I was wondering if any of you Snoothers had tried this stuff and could provide any feedback. What does it most clearly com... Read More

  • Having just returned from a week in the valley, I'm working on pulling together some content focusing on Napa Cabernets. I started tasting through some of the samples I have in the office yesterday and just wanted to mention some of the better examples I found in the $20-$35 rangeTop of the heap is the 2009 Stepping Stone by Cornerstone $35, pre... Graves later on.2008 - Continuum Proprietary Red - I'm also building horizontal's for Napa Cabs & Blends starting in 2006, and this is definitely on my radar for making the best horizontal for 08's (up to $225 range if it's a good year for Shafer, otherwise mos... • Am doing a short day trip to Napa later this month and am wondering if you all have any recommendations for tasting rooms in this area. Have another tasting at Kapcsandy lined up for the day, which should be amazing, but would also like to take advantage of my time up there and visit another nearby winery. Don't have much time, so the closer the... Read More

  • Firestone Discoveries Riesling 2008

    Snoothrank:

Firestone's Discovery series Riesling 2008 is unlike any Firestone Riesling ... of balance on the acid/sugar continuum but still enjoyable. The nose is loaded with classic Santa Ynez Riesling perfume and the fruit is more than I was expecting from a nearly dry Riesling. This wine will age due to its acid content. Even at 4 yrs old, it is still... Read More

  • I appreciate Snooth's GTI program.  It does give me cause to concentrate on a particular type of wine for a bit.  It also occasionally asks me to take a look at something that is not in my normal purview.  The Zinfandel GTI definitely does not fall into that category.  In multiple posts or comments on Snooth I have confessed to being a Zinfandel... • Continuum Cabernet Sauvignon 2007

    Snoothrank:

Mr. Parker gave this a 98 and I agree. This is a remarkable bottle. truely an experience and well crafted by Tim Mondavi. This blend has many personalities and was most surprising. It has made it as a standard in my cellar. Lots of berries. Blueberry, Blackberry, Smoke are the predominent. Read More
