Col Solare Wines
The partners agreed in 2005 that a winery properly scaled and singularly focused on Col Solare would best realize the wine's extra-ordinary potential. They chose property on Red Mountain to build Col Solare, Italian for "shining hill." On April 12th, 2007, Col Solare celebrated its grand opening.
The refined state-of-the-art winery was constructed from sustainable materials. Behind the dramatic 300 foot stone and concrete wall that emulates the basalt cliffs lining the valley, the winemaking cellar and adjoining "barri cai" enjoy the natural cooling temperature of the earth. Panoramic views reveal the landscape of the Columbia Valley and Horse Heaven Hills below.

While I think I prefer the '06, the '07 is still a masterful wine from Col Solare. Assertive, ripe, and quite complex. Lots of blackberries, blackcurrents, with touches of vanilla and it finishes with chocolate-covered espresso beans.
