Coelho Winery is a small family-owned winery located in Amity, Oregon. Our vineyard was planted in 2002 with Pommard and Dijon clones of Pinot Noir. Each member of our family takes pride in caring for our vineyard and producing our wines. At Coelho Winery, we patiently wait for the grapes to ripen, then handpick them at their peak flavor. After harvest, while the grapes are fermenting and put into barrels, we wait for nature to age this vintage to an elegant Pinot Noir. As a result of that patience, we decided to name our first bottle Paciencia, which means patience in Portuguese. Our winery is open for visitors year round and whenever our winemakers are available they offer guided tours themselves. We are passionate about what we do here at Coelho Winery and are always willing to take the time to talk about wine making with our customers. – Description from Dragac

  • Here's the funny thing:  For just a minute, Napa Ridge Cab was made from grapes from Napa Valley.  So that added to the confusion.  Franzia sometimes bought up labels that had some history or a reputation.  (His company is called Bronco, because the Franzia name was bought by Coca Cola and sold to The Wine Group.  So there's lots of history and ... • Coelho Winery Apreciação Chardonnay 2011

Another fairly pale one--just a slight shade of yellow. Nose can detect lemon hints. maybe some musty herbal things. Wow, on the palate you wonder where the flavor is. This is very similar to water. On a second mouthful, I do get some lemon hints and some minerality. A finish that lasts mere seconds. An incredibly unusual Chardonnay. It i... Read More

  • Coelho Winery Marechal Foch Willamette Valley Serenidade 2006

Notes of plum, sweet raisin and licorice come through in the nose. This is followed by dark cherry and raisins coming in on the tongue with a lingering peppery spice. Overall, a very exceptional port especially for those who do not enjoy those with an overpowering sweetness. The extremely warm and friendly environment of the tasting room provide... Read More

  • Coelho Winery Pinot Noir Willamette Valley Paciência 2007

My "go to" Oregon Pinot. This wine offers Burgundian lightness in color and body, combined with a Cali-type flavor profile of tart cherries. Only moderately complex. Delicious as a cocktail wine or with comte', figs, and prosciutto. Read More

  • I read this article a couple of days ago from the Wall Street Journal. I thought it was pretty interesting because fall for me has always meant a switch to red. Has anyone tried the Rhone Whites? I'm going to give this a go at the end of the week! Let me know if its really worth the wsj buzz.Check out the article here: Read More
