Clos Rougeard

Clos Rougeard seems to be something of a semi-mytical entity given the paucity of information and wine that emerges from the anonymous gates in the Rue L'Eglise in Chacé just south of Saumur itself. The most up to date information on the web can be found on Chris Kissack's Wine Doctor site and, at the time of writing in June 2009, Jim Budd was threatening a round up of his visit to their cellar on his blogsite ( Read more »

  • Recently I have been getting more and more into straight Cab Franc. I think it's quite possibly my favorite Bordeaux varietal. Many of the people I have spoken with about it criticize it for it's one-dimensional quality, which is perhaps why it blends so well with other bordeaux grapes (it offers what the others lack). For me what I love is the... Read More
