Established in 2002, Cliff Lede Vineyards encompasses sixty acres in the famed Stags Leap District. Owner Cliff Lede, viticulturalist David Abreu, Winemaker Michelle Edwards, and consultant Michel Rolland have come together to form an unrivalled team, making the most of this remarkable property. Completed in time for crush 2005, the new state-of-the-art gravity-flow winery boasts a berry-by-berry sorting system and conical tanks commissioned using a design inspired by the tanks of Château Latour. One tank per vineyard block ensures each lot evolves at its own pace and acres of caves with single-layer barrel storage ensure access to each barrel at all times. No corner has been cut. The winery produces Sauvignon Blanc, Claret and Cabernet Sauvignon. The flagship, Poetry Cabernet Sauvignon, is crafted from the steep hillside portion of the estate. The land, the talent, the tools and the passion: Cliff Lede Vineyards, a notable addition to the Stags Leap District. – Description from Kursulla

This wine is amazing for a wine snob on a medium budget. Let it decant and watch it open up to velvety richness. I won't waste it on someone who doesn't know wine, but would be happy serving it to guests who appreciate a very good glass. Read More

We had no expectations when our server suggested this wine with our dinner. He stated that the owner knew Mr. Lede and that this wine had become his favorite at this price point. Blindly we accepted the invitation and it was well worth it! My wife said mocha while I proclaimed deep berry as we took our first hint of its bouquet. On first tas... Read More

  • Wanting to refresh my memory on certain French vintages in the Rhône Valley I came across (as I often do) the Robert Parker Vintage Chart.  Parker includes vintages from 1970 through 2010 on his website and scores them on the usual 100 point scale.  He claims that scores of 70-79 are "average" while those of 80-89 are "above average to excellent...
