Established in 2002, Cliff Lede Vineyards encompasses sixty acres in the famed Stags Leap District. Owner Cliff Lede, viticulturalist David Abreu, Winemaker Michelle Edwards, and consultant Michel Rolland have come together to form an unrivalled team, making the most of this remarkable property. Completed in time for crush 2005, the new state-of-the-art gravity-flow winery boasts a berry-by-berry sorting system and conical tanks commissioned using a design inspired by the tanks of Château Latour. One tank per vineyard block ensures each lot evolves at its own pace and acres of caves with single-layer barrel storage ensure access to each barrel at all times. No corner has been cut. The winery produces Sauvignon Blanc, Claret and Cabernet Sauvignon. The flagship, Poetry Cabernet Sauvignon, is crafted from the steep hillside portion of the estate. The land, the talent, the tools and the passion: Cliff Lede Vineyards, a notable addition to the Stags Leap District. – Description from Kursulla

  • Wanting to refresh my memory on certain French vintages in the Rhône Valley I came across (as I often do) the Robert Parker Vintage Chart.  Parker includes vintages from 1970 through 2010 on his website and scores them on the usual 100 point scale.  He claims that scores of 70-79 are "average" while those of 80-89 are "above average to excellent... • Cliff Lede Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley 2009

    Snoothrank:

Actually, 2.5+ stars. Color, this wine lacks that (sauvignon-blancy) color. It is cloudy, not very clear, almost seems like unfiltered, not very appealing color. On the nose, a LOT of carrots dominating, yes carrots! Also there is some apricot that is still vibrant in here, some barnyard smell, yes! There are also some eucalyptus and some (weird... Read More

  • Cliff Lede Cabernet Sauvignon St. Helena 2007

    Snoothrank:

First of all, the 2007 vintage of Napa valley is regarded as one of the best of all time. This wine has a good and clean color. On the nose, this wine has, somehow, a lot of things to offer. A lot of black fruits, cassis, blackberry, a hint of licorice, very fruit-forward, and A LOT of oak! On the midpalate, there is a lot of heat and oakyness g... Read More

  • Cliff Lede Cabernet Sauvignon St. Helena 2007

    Snoothrank:

The nose begins tight at uncorking, and only spreads into a broader array at 2 hours, reaching a peak of aromatic complexity at about 3 hours. At its fullest points, the nose reveals blueberry, cherry, dusty soil and graphite, surrounded by various smoky, earthy, and woodsy scents intermingling. At three hours, dark chocolate emerges to give t... Read More
