Cliff Creek Cellars on Snooth

  • Cliff Creek Claret Sam's Valley Vineyard 2007

    Snoothrank:

50% Cabernet sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc, 20% MerlotCandied on the nose with lots of sweet black fruit, sweet oak spice, and licorice topped with some floral and black olive notes. Smooth on entry, and rather broad on the palate, this has plenty of acid and a good base of tannins supporting a core of fruit that recalls the nose with its sweet,... Read More

  • Cliff Creek Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Sams Valley Vineyard 2007

    Snoothrank:

Smokey and noticeably oaky on the nose but at the same this packs in lots of fresh black currant fruit and candied blueberry fruit. There is a lot of tobacco and sweet baking wood spice here though. Bright and relatively high acid on entry, there's an early slap of sweet wood spice, which remains an underlying factor through the palate, but this... Read More

Most were from 2010...Anyway, we are going on a family vacation in the area and I need some assistance in choosing a few wineries to hit.  Most of my research so far has been the wineries' websites, which are obviously biased.  However, based on this I am thinking about Doffo, Wiens, and Wilson Cr... • Cliff Creek Claret 2006

    Snoothrank:

Very lively and flavorful. Slightly toasty, but not overpowering with the vanilla notes. Tart black cherry with a decent acid balance. Great sipper on its own, but would also make a versatile food wine. Read More

  • People are not going to like what I have to say here, but that is okay, this is not a popularity contest. I do not write about wine to gather as many friends or followers as possible. I write about wine because I love wine and while I know my palate sometimes strays outside of the mainstream, so be it. I know many other people share my tastes or... Read More

  • Attended the Wine and Seafood show in Portland, Or on Saturday Feb 4th and tasted and bought Cliff Creek Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon, 2007 Vintage. This wine won Silver at the show. It had a deep aroma of lush currant fruit, was sweet, a bit spicy, oakey and smokey with a lasting finish. This is a Cab that should be rated at least 4 glasses. Le...
