Claudia Springs Winery was founded in 1989 by Bob and Claudia Klindt in the picturesque Anderson Valley of Mendocino County, California. The Anderson Valley, located less than 100 miles north of San Francisco, is one of the very best locations for producing fine, cool climate varietals such as Pinot Noir and the white Alsace varietals. The unique combination of warm sunny days and cool foggy nights allows the grapes to mature slowly, developing to their full potential. – Description from Francois de Melogue

  • We're heading back to (my favorite wine region) Russian River the first weekend in October and are looking for advice on what to do and what to expect.  We've been to RRV several times but only during the off season.  Is there anything special we should do at this time of year, and conversely, is there anything we should avoid? • Zinfandel, it’s no secret that I’ve carried on a long and intimate relationship with you. There is so much you have to offer. Sometimes you're a bit rough and tumble, edgy, even dangerous, while other times you’re coy or playful. But you’re always there for me, with joyous fruit, classic bramble notes and structure, allowing for early consumptio... Read More

  • Claudia Springs Zinfandel Redwood Valley Rhodes Vineyard 2010

    Snoothrank:

Jammy, blackberry fruit smells a bit wild and sharp on the nose, with obvious wood toast and vanilla accents. This is surprisingly bright in the mouth with an early rush of lovely briary, brambly, classic Zin berry fruit. The oak is obvious but well judged, a little simple but showing lovely purity; the finish shows a little spice and lovely bri... Read More

  • Claudia Springs Zinfandel Mendocino 2007

    Snoothrank:

Smoky and noticeably endowed with toasty oak notes on the nose, this nonetheless shows a nice core of herb-inflected cherry fruit as well. A bit thick in the mouth, with very fine-grained tannins that sort of closely knit the wine over your tongue. This is showing a slightly aggressive structure at this point, with good density but somewhat subd... Read More

  • Claudia Springs Zinfandel Ricetti Vineyard California Wine 2007

    Snoothrank:

Fairly intense aromas balance notes of forest floor, sweet black raspberry and black cherry fruit and gentle tones of wood spice. Really excellent balance on entry. This is a big wine, no doubt about it, but the balance really makes this deceivingly smooth and easy to drink. The mid-palate is dominated by classic brambly blackberry fruit with hi... Read More

  • Claudia Springs Zinfandel Redwood Valley Vassar Vineyard 2007

    Snoothrank:

Very interesting on the nose, with layers of chocolate, eucalyptus and licorice giving the core of slightly jammy grippy and boysenberry fruit a slight medicinal edge. Lovely freshness and sapid acidity in the mouth gives this a seductive feel and, while the fruit is rich, it takes a bit of a second seat to the structural elements of the wine. T... Read More

  • Claudia Springs Zinfandel Mendocino 2007

    Snoothrank:

Big fruity raisin nose w/ green banana and molasses. The mouth is large, round, and syrupy. High alcohol, good acids and tannins. The ripe fruit is more noticeable on the finish. Read More

  • Zinfandel is an American treasure. There are great old-vine vineyards around the globe that range from Nero d’Avola in Italy to Grenache in Spain and Malbec in Argentina, but only in California can we find the finest examples of Zinfandel. And when the discussion comes around to Zinfandel and experiencing all it has to offer, one is inevitably d... Read More

  • I'm looking for suggestions for wineries to visit.  My wife and I went to Sonoma last April, and we are going again this September.  We have 4 days planned in the following wine regions- Sonoma, Napa, and Mendocino.  We felt out Sonoma pretty well last time (by no means did we go to all the wineries, but we experienced some good diversity).  Thi...
