  • When we talk about Zinfandel we often tend to focus on those most familiar to us. Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma Valley, Amador County, and even Napa get their fair share of attention, though just as often we tend to gloss over some terrific wine producing regions. I’m sure that on the whole my coverage of Zinfandel this year will be equally lopsided ... Read More

  • Hi everyone.  My wife Sandra and I have been into wine for the past few years and that's led to a few trips to Napa Valley and related areas in 2012 and 2013.  We enjoy all wines but reds are our favorites.  We hosted our first wine tasting party last night and it was a fun event - sixteen wine lovers trying different wines in a blind tasting.  ... • I love N. Rhone Syrah.  It's my favorite red wine in France.  But the acreage of the region is so small and the area that provide its best wines even smaller, that prices have hit the roof.  Sure, there are a few St. Josephs and Crozes-Hermitages that come in around $25, but those are either made for earlier drinking and a lot less thrilling wit... • Hi All,   I have a few thoughts/questions that I would appreciate comments on. I have been some-what seriously drinking wine for about eight years now. I am 61 years old and before the "wine enlightenment", drank mostly micro-brewery and other not so chic types of beer. Every year now for the past four, I have held a blind tasting of different r...
