Soft entry, lots of rich pear fruit up front with the acidity gaining a little firmness and soft almond tones on the mid-palate and back end where the zesty mineral cut asserts itself. The finish is soft and long with almond and mineral tones. This is a soft wine that is ideally suited to fattier white fish and veal dishes. 88pts    (hide)

  Grainy aroma, weeds, very floral. Melons and peaches make up the mildly fruity body, which is dry and not very tart. A little too metallic for me, but very good otherwise.

  Pears and figs on a lightly mineral nose. Creamy texture, with green apples dominating. Oily and mouthfilling. Finishes on menthol notes.

  A very complex white. Gamey and funky on the nose with an acidic but dark flavor and some spice. Really enjoyable.

A rich, soft interpretation of this Italian classic, the Cimarelli is full of textbook smoke and mineral aromatics with rich pear fruit and almond notes in the mouth. With bright berry fruit and gentle spice tones in the mouth this is just perfect for pairing with grilled sausages and tomato based dishes. 2005 Turlo di Salviano $14.99 A classic "Super-Tuscan" blend, though coming from the bordering province of Umbria, that has produced a wine with rich, refined aromas of toasty oak, jammy black fruits and hints of graphite and violets. Full of sweet, plummy fruit and subtle dried herb tones this sleek, medium bodied wine would be great partnered with a fine steak, even better with some chimmichurri sauce!
