  • As a former Californian and a resident of Fremont, we use to visit Napa Valley often. I left California in 2002 and was not aware that Christian Brothers winery closed up. I did buy many bottles of their Zinfandel Port that was fantastic and now I find that it is no longer available, nor is the winery. That doesn't seem right?

  • As a Californian, I have felt the loss of such old names as Almaden, Christian Brothers and Inglenook.  (OK, I guess Almaden still exists as a mocking shell of its former being.  OK, I know it never was great, but their bottles did have corks.  Maybe I am the only person who feels a sense of loss of Almaden.)  Another of the old abused names is ... • We have a 1970 (or maybe a little earlier) Christian Brothers Burgundy. It was a gift in1970 to my husbands parents who have now passed away. The bottle does not have a year, however 1970 is the year they recieved it. (they labled everything!) any idea if it is worth anything or if not, would it be drinkable?

  • When was the Christian Brothers Winery sold and to whom? I remember so well buying a case of Christian Brothers' Chenin Blanc for my parents for a Christmas present (in 1973). They just slurped it up, and the case was completely gone by March '74! I would love to pick up some Chenin Blanc if it is made the same way as it was all those years ago....
