Chevillon on Snooth

  • Some more nice 2012's had yesterday...the Trapet was a bit more forward, ... to make it enjoyable. The Chevillon showed more classic and even a little austere with much more of a green streak to the fruit, and cut, so a better pair with food. However, the Langhe Neb might have taken this battle, at least it was the best pair with food, versati... Read More

  • It’s time to start buying gifts for the holidays and that means ... lacy ... lacy fruit.  2010 Chevillon Nuits St. Georges Les Roncieres  $70-$80 While the Cote de Beaune is the home of great values, you can still find fabulous wines in the Cote de Nuits. Chevillon produces remarkable wines that still sell for fair price, and his Roncieres is ... Read More

  • Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits St. Georges les Vaucrains Premiere Cru 2004

    Snoothrank:

The nose is deep and meaty, with dark starwberry preserve, and some earthy undertones. On the palate, medium weight, with dark cherry / strawberry, some mineral, charred wood, and a bit of clove. Nice long, lean finish with lingering spice notes. Well balanced, with moderate acidity and medium grained tannins. Solid, but not extracted or overly r... Read More

  • Continuing my journey into Burg-Ville, and interest in the 2010's specifically, I figured why get buried in the sea of the "WDT?" thread. From the flight of 08-10 Burgundy I tasted earlier in the year to the 2010's I've had a chance to sample (having started hitting the shelves in force recently), it all seems to point to this being a stand-out v... • Domaine Chevillon-Chezeaux Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru Aux Champs-Perdrix 2005

    Snoothrank:

A cool, damp loam with over-ripe strawberry on the nose - though confit-deep and substantial; on the palate, the wine is definitely Nuits-Saint-Georges as the fruit is layered and deep with diminishing tannin and stemmy cranberry on the medium to long finish. Good value and will last another 3-5 years at least with prudent cellaring. 89-90 points. Read More

  • I'm finding my cellar a bit too Cali-centric these days and am looking to start buying from some different regions, and the 2010 vintage brings some interesting options to the table. Most of the good wines from around the world are beginning to take shape and arriving on the retail shelves, minus most of the bordeaux blends from France, CA, and ... Read More
