Château Talbot is a Grand Cru Classé (Fourth Growth, Quatrième Cru) in Saint-Julien in Bordeaux, France. The estate was founded in the 15th century by Connétable John Talbot, English soldier and governor of Guyenne, who was defeated in the 1453 Battle of Castillon. It eventually fell into the hands of the Marquis of Aux, which lasted several decades before acquisition by Désiré Cordier in 1917. It was his son, Georges and his grandson, Jean, who propelled the estate to earn the reputation it achieved as one of the top wines of the Médoc in the later part of the 20th century. Jean Cordier’s daughter, Nancy Bignon Cordier and her husband, Jean-Paul Bignon, currently oversee production.
