Château Simard Winery

  Does anyone have info on the Simard winery? I would like to visit it while in St. Emilion. Are they open to the public? Can I do a tasting there?

  Chateau Simard 1998

  Snoothrank: Starting at $21^.99

  Lean and yellow - not unlike a Rioja, but with more of that subtle Bordeaux wet wool. Currants and pepper with a nice surprisingly long thundery finish.

  Glue,petrol and blackcurrant on the nose, tabacco, leather on the palette. A long finish, excellent with beef.

  Snoothrank:

  Nice dark color. Nose full of black cherry and smoke. Dry with medium tannins and medium bodied. Cherry, earth tones, also some minerality. Falls short on acidity. 88pts

  Chateau Simard 1998

  Snoothrank:

  I always love these aged opportunities at this price point. Enjoyed with friends over a barbequed filet dinner. Nice balance with long finish. Not great with all the wine flavors, but everyone enjoyed it. Low alcohol as well.
