The story of this estate dates back to the 16th century but in 1999 it was bought by the late Lorraine Cordier whose family also own Chateau Talbot in Saint Julien. It consists of 150 hectares on sand and gravel soils of which 39 are under vine. Only red wines are made. In 2003 it was made a Cru Bourgeoise Superior. There are two second wines Artigues de Senejac and  La Bergerie de Senejac

  • La Bergerie de Senejac Haut-Medoc 1997

This bottle of wine was part of a lot I bought on the website ... is a second wine made at Chateau Senejac and I have been unable to find the exact cepagement but it is probably made from younger vines and with less oak. I started it last night with my supper of roast pork and I did enjoy it.There is some blackcurrant and blackberry fruit there... Read More

  • GREGT- you are right about Chappellet. At any price point I  have  ... $30 and under. I am drinking Chateau Senejac Haut Medoc, rated 94 at $22, Chateau Palon ST Emilion, 93, at $30, Chateau Garraud, 92, LaLande Pomerol, $30 and many others in that same range. • I am a life long wine enthusiast with a preference for Bordeaux, particularly if consumed at maturity. I do enjoy wines from other parts of the world but find I like the ones that have a claret style best. I dislike CA/domestic  fruit bombs that seem so prevalent and popular in the U S.My bias toward Bordeaux was probably set when a friend of mi... Read More

  • Ch Senejac Haut-Medoc 2010

Looking for a wine that reflects Bordeaux to a tee, this is a good exemplar; the strong - if I may be so bold - manly flavours of kirsch, cassis liqueur and medium body coffee are all here. The nose is forward and the entry is full of Cabernet power with a finish that is long and invigorating. May age a few years yet. 89 points. Read More

  • Chateau Senejac Haut-Medoc Cabernet Franc. Cabernet Sauvignon. Merlot Bordeaux Haut Medoc France Sparkling Wine Haut Medoc 2005

decanted 3 hours, very little sediment. lightly smoky bramble fruit, wet pine and blueberries on the nose, medium body, ripe black cherries, earth and chocolate on the palette with elegant, long-lasting finish of cherry and orange peel with subtle hints of oak and smoke. Very delicious wine and the tannins would smooth out beautifully in the n... Read More

  • Château Sénéjac Red Bordeaux Blend Haut-Médoc 1994

I found an over looked bottle and thought that it would be way beyond its best. It was absolutely fine. Full of fruit, nicely balanced and good length. Not much tannin left but very well integrated. Not at all over the top. For a minor wine it was excellent. Read More
