Château Saint-Roch
Remounting the river Rhône, place of civilisation, greeks coming from Marseille brought vines in the VI th century in the region of Roquemaure. Already the grape variety Syrah !
In the XVII th century, Roquemaure is a famous wine production center, proud and jalous of the quality of its wine, any blending with wine coming from other parishes is forbidden.
In the XVIII th century, casks countaining the wine of Roquemaure, and the wine of Lirac, Tavel, Chusclan and Orsan as well, were branded with the letters C.D.R. marked with red-hot iron, to guarantee the authenticity of origin
Since 1947 Lirac is A.O.C ( Appellation d'Origine Controlee) and one of the thirteen vineyards of the Côtes du Rhône.

Nose had dark fruit including blackberry, a touch of black pepper, and a slightly dusty character as well. The tannins were definitely there but not too huge. Medium body.
