Bought a bottle to test; decanted about 2 1/2 hours and the wine opened up nicely. Found the nose to carry a little violet with some red berry notes and a slight hint of smoke. This is the North Berkeley "Cuvee Unique" which is 100% Syrah. The nose is a bit more perfumed than that of the "Viallieres"; not quite as animale.
