  • I’m so glad I found this tasting happening at my work's social clubhouse because my intended attendance at the trade tasting didn’t eventuate. I’m gutted that I missed out on the chance to taste the 2001 Cuvee Madame. I’ll have to dig deep into the pockets for a glass now, thank goodness for tax returns time! I had previously provided an introdu... Read More

  • I am looking for a sweet sherry for a dessert type wine, such as a pedro ximenez or something a little sweeter than Harveys bristol cream.  Any suggestions? Read More

  • In past posts here on the Forum I have confessed that I regularly drink inexpensive wines.  In fact, I have been doing less of that, lately, but last night I picked one out of the rack that, pretty much, blew me away;  Epicuro 2009 Salice Salentino -- US$4.99 at Trader Joe's.This wine is a blend of Negroamaro (80%) and Malvasia Nera (20%) grapes... • Château Rieussec Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend Sauternes 1983

    Snoothrank:

Caramel, white chocolate, tangerine, coconut, nutmeg, lacquer, and hazelnut on the nose. Moderately viscous on the palate with more caramel, vanilla bean, tangerine and white chocolate. Everything is carried wonderfully with great acidity as the palate plays on. Finishes with great length and lingering complexity. Ageless. Read More

  • Château Rieussec Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend Sauternes 2005

    Snoothrank:

A tad bit less "umph" than I expected. So light bodied it has almost a watered down feel to it. Very subtle flavors that do open up with time. Nothing jumps out at first but a decent finish with hints of pepper and earth. Not bad but just not was I expected coming from Pauillac. Read More

  •  Hello all!I am proud to be a wine lover, but an amateur at best. To improve my knowledge I have been studying (God bless my university's library!) as much as I can about regions, varietals, etc. through books and whatnot. Recently, I came across a sub-region in the Bordeaux appellation called Sauternes. The way my book (Zraly's wine course...) ... Read More

  • Though only a small portion of the final blend, the Cabernet Franc rises from the glass in a dance with the silky elements of the St.-Emilion Merlot that gracefully weave their way into the mix.  If there is a nose that can pair with a season; the bright-yet-earthy aromas from La Closerie de Fourtet would be the perfect fit with fall.Given time ... • Château Rieussec Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend Sauternes 2005

    Snoothrank:

Actually, 3.9 stars. Color, this sauternes has a nice, deep, golden color, very appealing. On the nose, very complex, dried apricot, caramel, honey, classic nose! Midpalate, oil think, full bodied, dried apricot and honey are interacting harmoniously, it completely covers my tongue. Finish, very smooth, textured, nice complexity, lingering in th... Read More
