  • Château Pichon-Longueville Baron Red Bordeaux Blend Pauillac 1966

Unfortunately this wine is 5-7 years past its prime. Cork was completely oxidized and crumbled. Wine was double decanted but only had marginal flavours. You could tell that this wine has once been a powerhouse but had definitely lost its lustre. 85 Read More

  • Château Pichon-Longueville Baron Red Bordeaux Blend Pauillac 1970

opaque garnet with some definite loss of colour from core to rim. Fresh ground coffee, mulled cranberry and smoky prune with some subtle allspice nuances. Surprisingly, some fruit still present on palate - redurrant tanginess with dusty tannin, and quite piquant acidity to balance. Persistent sweet spice on the finish. Read More

  • Château Pichon-Longueville Baron Red Bordeaux Blend Pauillac 1988

Explosive fruit with strong notes of earth and cedar. Tannins are just beginning to resolve, but still quite prominent. Finish was long, delicious. Read More

Color is a medium rusty burgundy with no obvious bricking. Almost no seepage in to the cork. Very... Read More

The 1988 Pichon-Longueville promises to be one of the half-dozen superstars of this vintage. Surprisingly large-scaled for a 1988, with an oaky, cassis, and licorice-scented nose, it is deep in color, rich, softly tannic, medium to full-bodied, and should reach maturity early on, but keep for 15-20 years. • Pichon Baron -Pack Owc 1990

One of the finest values in top-class Bordeaux has been the 1990 Pichon-Longueville-Baron. Until 3-4 months ago, the wine could have been purchased for under $400 a case, but that seems to have changed as the results of numerous tastings have pushed the price upward. I originally gave a one point preference to the 1989, and I am still convinced ... Read More
