At the begining of the 19th century Irishman Bernard Phelan bought the two vineyards of Clos de Caramay and Segur de Cabanac and founded the modern estate. The Gardinier family [www.gardinier.com] took over in 1985 and undertook a programe of renovations but sold up to a Belgian investor Philippe van de Vyere in 2017. This is a Cru Bourgeois estate of 70 hectares making three wines, the grande wine,a second wine called Frank Phelan, and a merlot dominated cuvee called La Croix Bonis. Michel Roland is the consultant.
