Château La Mission Haut-brion

When the wine is young, the initial sensation is its unctuousness, the softness of a very ripe grape, the freshness of aromas and at the same time the texture of very special tanins. These meld with a trace of mineral in the wine. It is as if the land was in the glass, comprising notes of roasted coffee beans, cocoa and tobacco. This delicate bitterness is somewhat reminiscent of crystallized cherry-stones seeped in spirit. It is certainly a penchant for revealing all its qualities at once that distinguishes the wines of La Mission and pleases a lot of tasters. It is also the consummate expression of the land of the Graves of Pessac. When maturing, this wine is still generous, openly proffering all its qualities. This hedonistic side is one of its most attractive particularities. – Description from JasminaDragoljevic

  • It's interesting that a few new topics have popped up recently (Experiencing Cabernet Franc for one) and that my wife Sandra just today handed me an article by Dave McIntyre she cut out of a Washington Post newspaper dated 25 March 2015.  I'm starting this new topic based on this article "The wine cost four digits.  And the taste?" regarding the... • This is pertinent to that other thread I started on product placements (sortof) in movies and TV. But I'm pained to say also deserves posting here because it is actually, at this far into the 21st century, good QPR for Bordeaux reds, whether merlot- or cab-centric. Both are excellent wines in their respective ways, and they were fortunately neve... Read More

  • There are many wines I'd like to buy if money weren't an issue. Here's one of them:2010 Beaucastel Hommage a Perrin - Made from 70% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah, Grenache, and Counoise. 500 cases produced. Some IWC text: Bright ruby.
