It was in about 1895 that Antonin Ressès inheriled the Domaine du Château la Caminade. This place is full of history, since, until the French Révolution, it belonged to the clergy. The monks knew how to choose the best soils with care and, in those days, used to produce the very best wines. Antonin and his son Marcel spent their lives rebuilding and enlarging the Domaine. In 1973, immediately after Cahors was awarded A.O.C. status (1971), Marcel and his son Léonce decided to market the whole of their production in bottle. The Château la Caminade soon won recognition as one of the standard setters of the appellation, and this success was borne out by the award of numerous medals and favourable mentions in the Hachette guide. "One of the best Cahors of the decade ", according to Pierre Casamayor, author of the book "Vignes et Vignerons du Soleil" and journalist on the "Revue des Vins de France".
