Lebanon has, through the ages, acquired a rich and complex wine history because of its geographic location. The vineyard and wine-making have always had their place. Since Phoenician times, wine trade with Egypt has existed. The Romans celebrated wine by dedicating a temple to the god Bacchus; vestiges remain today in Baalbek. Looking no farther than Christian times, it can be said that the Weddings of Canaa testifies to the reputation of Lebanese wine. Chateau Khoury enjoys a privileged location on the eastern foothills of the Lebanese mountain (Mount Lebanon) at an altitude ranging between 1200 and 1300 m. It overlooks the town of Zahlé and offers a panoramic view on the Bekaa Valley. The winery and the château, a beautiful stone residence in the traditional Lebanese style, are surrounded by the vineyard.
