This is a 61 hectare estate close to the hamlet of Marbuzet in the Saint-Estephe appellation in the north of the Medoc peninsular. It was bought by a Henri Duboscq in 1951 and his family still run it. In 1962 Henri bought the nearby 5 hectare Chateau Chambert-Marbuzet estate and in 1981 the 4 hectare Chateau Tour de Marbuzet estate.Chateau Haut-Marbuzet also produces a second wine from the younger vines called Chateau McCarthy named in honour of an Irish family who owned it in the early 19th century. Chateau Haut-Marbuzet and Henri Duboscq 's other two Chateaus have a high reputation and were made Cru Bourgeois Exceptionneis in 2003.The chateau should not be confused with Chateau La Croix de Marbuzet or Chateau de Marbuzet

  • I had an old bottle of Bordeaux I bought on the www.bidforwine.co.uk website a Chateau Haut-Marbuzet 2001 from Saint-Estephe. It was a lovely bottle that did not show its age at all and went well with my roast chicken. Read More

  • Château Haut-Marbuzet Red Bordeaux Blend St. Estèphe 2004

    Snoothrank:

This well-respected Duboscq product is dark with just a remnant of oak on a nose dominated by black currant and (perhaps) some cola. It exceeds expectation for the vintage with more flavor and balance than early reviews predicted. Admittedly, there is a certain tightness and tannic presence that detracts slightly, but this lingering after-taste... Read More

  • Haut-Marbuzet 2008 : Good colour and impressive nose. Full, rich and oaky. Lots of lovely fruit and slightly more zip than in the 2007. Long and seductive at the end. Very good. From 2013.

  • I am considering buying a wine from the year of my son's birth (2007) and aging ... this question, recommended Chateau Haut Marbuzet.  And a Bordeaux may be a nice choice since I've spent some time in France during these years of my children's birth - a nice connection but not a requirement.  Would you agree with this recommendation or offer an... • Hi there,                 My 30th is coming up in March. One of the things I've wanted to do since I was about 6 is to drink a red wine from the year I was born (81).  I don't have the type of money to blow 1000's of dollars on a wine or buy a case to ensure the wine is about to peak (probably a bit late to do that anyway).  Does anyone have any...
