The DULON family have been wine-makers from father to son for more than 250 years, although there was one generation when a member of the family became a miller (the mill that still stands next to the house is proof of this). When Jean DULON founded the property, there were only 12 hectares; today Michel DULON manages 130 hectares. Vignobles DULON are situated in the Entre Deux Mers region of the department of the Gironde (33) in South West France. Mr and Mrs Dulon are the owners of three vineyards, which are spreading over the villages of Soulignac, Targon, Langoiran. The exceptional orientation of these vineyards and the specials terroirs provide perfect conditions to produce great wines. We produce quality AOC labeled wines: AOC Bordeaux Rouge, AOC Bordeaux Supérieur, AOC Bordeaux Blanc, AOC Bordeaux Entre Deux Mers, AOC Bordeaux Rosé, AOC Premières Cotes de Bordeaux. – Description from djjoleM

  • Here's another of those eye-popping offers from HDH, though it always surprises me how (relatively) reasonable bottle prices are for older Bordeaux library offerings compared to those from the last several years. And Montrose itself was never really found by the Chinese. There's no question of provenance here since these bottles are all from the... Read More

  • Cotes du Rhone. It’s a surprisingly well known wine in a world where the wines people are generally more comfortable with come with varietal designations as opposed to regional ones. Sure there are Chianti, and Bordeaux, but how many other regional appellations are most people familiar with? And is there any other that is exclusively focused on ... Read More

  • A ridiculous number of trigger pullworthies in this new offering, many in their absolute drinking prime. Wish the shop was just down the street from me, rather than the ones that are. But then I'd have to live in NYC.  ;-(I love it when a guy drops 100 cases on a shop, just to 'make some space" in his cellar. Wonder what's going to be filling th... Read More

  • I’m kicking off this year's series on value wines by taking a look at one the regions least commonly associated with value: Bordeaux. Now that’s not because Bordeaux doesn't offer value, it’s just that their value wines get little attention from the media. I’m not sure why that is. Why the big names glom all of the media’s attention. I think bac... Read More

  • Château Jean Faure Grand Cru Saint Emilion A.c 2010

    Snoothrank:

a blend of 54% cabernet franc, 40% merlot and 6% malbec, cropped at26 hectoliters per hectare ; 40% new oak. Certainly the best vintage of this property since the new owner buy it in 2004 (not interesting before). A immensely smooth, polished wine, fantastic fine-grained, a small Cheval Blanc ? No, a real personality and certainly the most import... Read More

  • Every year about this time the Beaujolais hype machine kicks into high gear getting us all ready for the latest and greatest vintage of Nouveau. Don’t get me wrong, I actually enjoy a glass of nouveau now and again and they do make for a perfectly fine pairing with Thanksgiving meals, but in all honesty I wish they were released in the late spri... • For March, my tasting group explored the length of the Rhône valley.  Probably for consistency of quality, one of our best tastings to date with just about all o the wines showing well and being universally liked by all.  I was lucky to find/have access to some older vintages from estate sales and store cellars, so it made for a fun night.  Here...
