Situated in Lalande de Pomerol, halfway between the famous vineyards of Saint-Emilion and Fronsac, Château de Viaud is one of the oldest wine estates in this area and belongs to Philippe Raoux. South of the village itself and north of the River Barbanne, in a zone designated by eminent oenologist Henri Enjalbert as having a soil composed of the best gravel "similar to the sandy gravels of Pomerol", the property covers 20 hectares. The vins have an average of 30 years and enjoy a privileged sunny position on these south-facing hills. Area under production: 13 ha Grape Varieties: Merlot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon Soil type: Gravel Pruning/Harvest: Bordeaux Double Guyot with bud removal. Manual thinning of leaves, green harvesting on all plots. Grapes are picked by hand.
