Saint Cosme - located north to the village of Gigondas - is the most ancient estate in the region. Lying on the site of a Gallo-Roman villa which very probably already had its own vineyard, the estate's existence in 1416 is attested by a document mentioning the granting by Jean de Chalon, Price of Orange, of "land for the planting of vines on the Saint Cosme slopes." The Barruol's ancestors acquired it in 1570, and at the end of the sixteenth century built a splendid residence over existing cellars... – Description from JelaDragoljevic

  • Chateau de Saint Cosme Cotes du Rhone les Deux Albion 2012

Inviting and elegant this has red berry fruit, spice, incense, modest tannins and well balanced acidity to the lively, though short aftertaste. Drink now - Paul 88 points Read More

  • Chateau de Saint Cosme Chateauneuf du Pape 2009

Murky dark plum color. Nose of dried fruit. Very serious hit of candied fruit on entrythink of a combination of cherry and apricot. Then a powdery sensation seems to cover my tongueprobably, from tannin. Back palate sensation is sour and, slightly, bitter. Overall, to me this wine is disjoint and not integrated. Read More

  • Saint-Cosme Côtes du Rhône Blanc 2011

Peach, melon, tangerine and honeysuckle dominate both the nose and palate. This is gripping and crisp with good minerality and acidity with a zippy after taste. Well done - Paul 89 points Read More

  • St Cosme Cotes du Rhone 2011

Black berries and a bunch of blue berries dominate the nose with additional oak (slight), vanillin, spice and pepper this is a lush, full mouth wine. Excellent with food, this is only lacking in aftertaste (short), otherwise this typical Saint-Cosme. Drink now - Paul 89 points Read More

  • St. Cosme Cotes du Rhone 2010

Blackberries, blueberries, mocha, pepper, oak, with vanilla around the edges here and there and a succulent earthiness abound round the nose (Sounds cherry doesn't it?). The earthy tones really ride the fruit as the tannins really grip and become a little dense at times. The acidity is good and this is a steal. Would pair well with wild game a... Read More

  • Speaking of drinking and eating cheaply, we brought Burger King burgers / ... ... French GSM blend wine (2013 Chateau de Saint Cosme from the Gigondas appellation) to enjoy just a small glass as we settle down for the evening.  It's slightly tart on my tongue and probably a bit too tannic but not all that bad. &nbs Read More

  • Cotes du Rhone. It’s a surprisingly well known wine in a world where the wines people are generally more comfortable with come with varietal designations as opposed to regional ones. Sure there are Chianti, and Bordeaux, but how many other regional appellations are most people familiar with? And is there any other that is exclusively focused on ... Read More

  • St Cosme Cotes du Rhone Rouge 2012

Gamy, savory and spicy on the nose, this is cut from a different cloth than most Cotes du Rhone. Barnyard, deeply aromatic and rich with slightly lifted aromas of earthy raspberry fruit,, green olive, worcestershire sauce and lamb with a hint of orange and mint, theres a diner in my glass. Big rich, and black fruited right up front, this is a t... Read More
