  • Château de Jau Cotes du Roussillon Villages 2014

Browny/root/garnet coloration and decent clarity in appearance....Aromas that are heavy charcoal, Earthy, leather, grilled New York Striploin steak meatiness and lingers on after the initial wafts and being exposed to oxygen. The flavors go back and forth between fruit forward cherry and grape, and smoke/leather/meat. The mouthfeel is medium/f... Read More

  • Like many foodies, I adore oysters on the half shell. One of my first jobs working in a professional kitchen as a kid, after I was promoted from the pot sink, was shucking oysters and serving them iced on the half shell. • Le Jaja de Jau Sauvignon Blanc 2010

2010 vintage is just too tart for its own good. 2009 vintage was a great value, this is just meh. Read More

  • Le Jaja de Jau Cotes de Gascogne 2010

This is subtle and gentle on the nose with lime fruit and nuanced green chili and sage notes. Very light bodied with modest intensity, this nonetheless is fresh and clean with citrusy fruit and lightly herbal top notes all wrapped up in a refreshing package that finishes with a lovely zesty finale that faintly recalls unripe strawberries. Totall... Read More

  • Château de Jau Sauvignon Blanc Vin de Pays d'Oc le Jaja de Jau 2009

Tart and tangy with razor-sharp acidity. I had chapped lips when i drank it and it burned like lemon juice. this is a good pairing for fresh oysters with squeezed lemon and cocktail sauce. Reminds me of a New Zealand sauvignon blanc without the intense grapefruit or cat pee. Great value at under $10. Read More

  • The Chateau is actually an old church, the vin yard is down on the plain and is a Mas (farm). Everything is covered in the grey dust from the quarry at Cases de Pene. However, it is a great wine, rich, fruity and at only 12.5 full of flavour. I wouldn't say it was from Rivesaltes as it has a distinctively different taste being on the south facin...
