Chateau de Francs has a long history going back to the Hundred Years War and parts of the building date back to this period. It was bought by business partners Hubert de Bouard [who also owned Chateau Angelus in Saint Emilion ] and Dominique Hebrand [ who also owned Chateau Cheval Blanc in Saint Emilion] These experienced wine makers undertook a programme of improvements. There are 40 hectares under vine and one cuvee of white wine is produced along with three of red. There is the luxury cuvee of 'Les Cerisiers' ,a 100% merlot cuvee of 'Infinity' as well as the main wine.

  • I paid £20 for three bottles of Chateau de Francs 2009 [ www.bidforwine.co.uk/auctions/show/112947 ] and I started the first bottle last night. This is a first class example of what a right bank claret should be like,full-bodied,plenty of fruit, and soft tannins although it is a 'petit chateau' in a less fashionable appellation. This was certainly... • Sometimes we get used to paying upwards of $100 for a nice bottle of wine from the wine shop.  Those are the 'good days' that we want to remember, but soon you notice your bank account is dropping faster than Trumps approval rating, so you start looking for more value-oriented wines that are tasty in their own right. This topic is all about value... • Sturgeon have swum the Bordeaux river basin as long as Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon  and Muscadelle have rooted down the region’s vineyards. They make an excellent pairing, yet this duo has long been overlooked.Even taken separately, this is true. Magret de canard and foie gras are de riguer at the Bordelais table. Though Bordeaux is nestled betwee... Read More
