Everything started in 1858 in a small town in the " Entre-Deux-Mers " region… At this time the Ducourt Family, owners of Château des Combes, settled in the hamlet of Hourc. Hourc, which in the ancient local dialect means 'oven', was a gathering place during the Middle Ages where people used to bake traditional bread. The flour used came from the Haurets' mill, located only a stone's throw from the Château des Combes. Pierre Ducourt, Bernard Ducourt's great-grandfather, arrived at the family estate in 1885. His son Louis inherited his position in 1919; at that time the property consisted of 9 hectares of vineyards. In 1951, the arrival of Henri Ducourt to the estate began a new era for Vignobles Ducourt. As an ambitious and brave winemaker, with the help of his three children (Bernard, Marie-Christine and Philippe), he energized the business and managed to put the family estate among the most important vineyards in the Bordeaux area (with 1090 acres and 12 Châteaux)… – Description Read more »
