Château Dassault

+33 5 57 55 1000 SAINT-ÉMILION, 33330
France

Created in 1862 by Victor Beylot, Château Couperie was purchased in 1955 by Marcel Dassault, who renovated the estate as well as gave his name to it. Château Dassault has been a Grand Cru Classé since 1969. Laurent Dassault currently manages the estate with the same passion and pride as his grandfather. Since 1995, he and Director Laurence Brun Vergriette have been striving for maximum quality: draining the vineyard, reducing yields, applying pesticide management and trimming the leaves on both sides of the vine. All of this contributes to growing perfectly ripe, healthy grapes. The vat room was fully renovated and grapes are carefully inspected twice on vibrating sorting tables. The grapes from each vineyard are fermented separately, making it possible to fine-tune the final blend. – Description from mriskic

  • If I were anywhere near New York on the 29th I'd be going to this event. Great wine, interesting winemakers, and lots of old posters, art nouveau or otherwise. Why is it I'd rather have one of them on my wall then a Flash banner ad from the Web?Price seems like more than a bargain, and the money goes to charity, too....   ... Here's your chance ... • Found a chateau Dassault Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 1990 in our 'cellar', the etiquette almost unreadable because of a humid residence in a basement. 1990 was a great year in the Bordeaux area and it is amazing how fruity a 21-year old wine can taste! Chapeau!

  • Château Dassault Red Bordeaux Blend St. Émilion Grand Cru 2005

    Snoothrank:

VERY slight smokey, coffee, leather nose, but with deep berry/earth. First nuances of dark cherries, chocolate, followed by blueberries... finishes nicely, not a fruit bomb. Tannins are well balanced for me now (maybe a bit tannic for others), but can age many more years. Decent acidity for good food pairings. Very nice wine. Read More

  • As per the prior conversations I have initiated re: St Emiliion "mustiness"... well...I have to chalk that up to a bad bottleI just opened my SECOND 2005 Dassault St Emilion.  It was FANTASTIC.  In comparing with a CA cab, I would say, it opened with such an earthiness, some coffee, a TAD, TAD bit of green pepper, and finished nicely, although d... • Château Dassault Red Bordeaux Blend St. Émilion Grand Cru 2004

    Snoothrank:

deep ruby-purple, medium body and acid. eucalyptus and rubber tire dominate any possible fruit character. while this sounds kind of terrible, it's actually pretty decently generically Bordeaux-y and balanced. I would drink it again, but only at its closeout pricing. Read More
