Château Carignan is located at Carignan de Bordeaux, 10km to the east of Bordeaux. The estate lies over 150 hectares, 65 of which are planted with vines. The vines lie on south facing clayey-limestone hillsides covered with stony gravel. The dominant grape variety, as for the other right bank Appellations (Saint Emilion and Pomerol), is Merlot. This variety is in its element on the clayey limestone hillsides and offers supple, well-rounded and highly fruity wines. The grapes for the Château Carignan wines are hand harvested, machine harvesting is used for the other wines. Maturing is in 100% new oak casks for the Château Carignan Prima and in one or maximum two wine casks for the Château Carignan. The entire production is estate bottled. – Description from HeatherV

  • I've found that when trying a cheap red or white wine, the whites are always better. I have tried the Concha Y Toro red wines as well as Trader Joe's red wines and they are horrible. But when I've tried cheap white wines, they'ved faired so much better.I haved tried the Trader Joe's Chardonnay and I really liked it, and it's only $2.99.I have al... Read More

  • Hello all,I'm your typical wine novice from the US and I absolutely LOVE wine, and now I am trying to venture in to the world of French wine, especially reds. Honestly, it intimidates me as the prices for Bordeaux's are crazy so I'm much less likely to test out many of them.I have been to many French restaurants and usually find pretty good wine... • Chateau de Blomac Minervois 2008

    Snoothrank:

http://www.spittoon.biz/on_french_wine_and_food.htmla bargain for its silky palate, fine structure and berry-led flavours. There is more to the wine than a simple berry-fest though, a fine complexity of spice and thigh-hugging leather makes a recent Gold Medal win at some French wine competition more understandable.
