Château Carignan is located at Carignan de Bordeaux, 10km to the east of Bordeaux. The estate lies over 150 hectares, 65 of which are planted with vines. The vines lie on south facing clayey-limestone hillsides covered with stony gravel. The dominant grape variety, as for the other right bank Appellations (Saint Emilion and Pomerol), is Merlot. This variety is in its element on the clayey limestone hillsides and offers supple, well-rounded and highly fruity wines. The grapes for the Château Carignan wines are hand harvested, machine harvesting is used for the other wines. Maturing is in 100% new oak casks for the Château Carignan Prima and in one or maximum two wine casks for the Château Carignan. The entire production is estate bottled. – Description from HeatherV

  • Chateau Millegrand Minervois 2010

    Snoothrank:

I have never had a bottle from this Chateau so thought I would give it a try. It received a medal from the Concours Des Grands Vins De France and I usually enjoy many of the wines that compete there. This red is a blend of 35% Syrah, 30% Grenache, 25% Carignan, & 10% Mourvedre. Sounds interesting enough. A nice ruby red color in my glass and not... Read More

  • Chateau Carignan Prima 2010

    Snoothrank:

Cedar-box, cigar, fresh blueberry, a bit of plum and a hint of fresh black earth greet the nose on this one; entry is full of blueberry and plum with decent grip. The finish is medium to long and the taste is delicious. 100% Merlot. A dandy for the price; dense and well-made - very Bordeaux. 90 points. Read More

  • Jeune Rouge Château Musar 2010

    Snoothrank:

I had never even heard of Lebanese wine when I tried this at Wine Kitchen in Leesburg, VA and boy, oh boy what a surprise! This wine manages to have the aggressive tannins of a big, bad red, yet with incredibly soft, gentle flavors like blueberry and violet. Paired perfectly with gnocchi, spring peas and morel mushrooms thanks to a body that cou... Read More

  • Pinot has been a much celebrated topic here on Snooth over the years I've participated, and it's obviously one of the more celebrated grapes in the wine world. It'll no doubt be a story line I plan on focusing on in years to come so I thought I'd start a thread, logging experiences. Sorry in advance, Greg T.Having said that, I've been mostly dis...
