The winery of Chateau Cantemerle Lining a majestic courtyard, its beautiful neo-Classical architecture bears witness to the high esteem in which wine has been held by the successive owners of Cantemerle. These lovely buildings, in perfect harmony with the rest of the estate, nonetheless contain state-of-the-art technology. They are home to three temperature-controlled vat rooms with a total capacity of 8000 hl, a wooden vat room of 3400 hl for old vines, a 2200-hl stainless steel vat room mainly used for young vines, and a 2400-hl cement vat used for blending. The adjoining cellars ,all air-conditioned, are home to 2000 barrels. – Description from dvoristanac

  • Château Cantemerle 2012

Limestone and grape seed aromas greet the nose which is nuanced and detailed. In the mouth this is a bit firm and chewy though with an innate sweetness to the grippy fruit. It feels a bit extracted on entry, then thins out a bit on the palate, but with attractive blackcurrant fruit and firm minerality, finishes with great refreshing tannin. 88pts Read More

  • I looked at the wine list and I can't really tell what things cost because I have almost no idea what their currency is (well, it's the Krona, but anyone can look it up) and at 195 of those to the dollar, a country with presumably high costs, I'm just guessing, but it won't be cheap.  But you are already there, so drink something good. With that... • Traveling to Iceland next week with my wife. Staying at the Hotel Holt in Reykjavik where the hotel boasts of a wine list of 4,000 vintage wines. Then traveling to the Hotel Ion for a 2 day stay where if lucky enough we will sit in their glass enclosed bar to view the Northern Lights. Hoping the Ion also has some fine wine for tasting. Will repo... Read More

  • Just posted full notes on Bordeaux 2011, with videos and photos and analysis, and feel like rattling off wines that come to mind as the most memorable, if not necessarily the "best" ...The first list evidently does not take price into account, and does not include Latour and Mouton, which I did not taste, nor several apparently kick ass Pomerols... Oaky on the nose with toasty wood spice over a shallow and lean core of astringent fruit. Soft and anonymous in the mouth, showing a modicum of mineral flavors and a hint of cherry fruit but this is short, charmless and already drying out. 78pts Read More

  • If I were anywhere near New York on the 29th I'd be going to this event. Great wine, interesting winemakers, and lots of old posters, art nouveau or otherwise. Why is it I'd rather have one of them on my wall then a Flash banner ad from the Web?Price seems like more than a bargain, and the money goes to charity, too....   ... Here's your chance ...
