The winery of Chateau Cantemerle Lining a majestic courtyard, its beautiful neo-Classical architecture bears witness to the high esteem in which wine has been held by the successive owners of Cantemerle. These lovely buildings, in perfect harmony with the rest of the estate, nonetheless contain state-of-the-art technology. They are home to three temperature-controlled vat rooms with a total capacity of 8000 hl, a wooden vat room of 3400 hl for old vines, a 2200-hl stainless steel vat room mainly used for young vines, and a 2400-hl cement vat used for blending. The adjoining cellars ,all air-conditioned, are home to 2000 barrels. – Description from dvoristanac

  • DMCKER -  It's been years in the making.  For instance take the ... experience with producer. The Chateau Cantemerle, I've had a ton experience with so that helps.  Some vintages are less than others, but eventually a pattern emerged and I always kept at 2 from every vintage after the initial buy.  I test the 2nd at abound 3-4 years and that la... • Sorry for the brightness in this picture.  Just picked up a couple from ... respectable death. The 2014 Chateau Cantemerle is special for another reason - the least of which is it's supposed quality - but that it has 7 brother bottles in my cellar for an unbroken 8 year vertical.  Been drinking them since the mid-90's and I put 2 2015's and 2 2... • Chateau Cantemerle Haut-Médoc 2006

This 2006 is a very fine wine, but has been marred by too much oak; an earlier tasting showed that at least 10 years was required to tame this excess. Today ( Feb 2017) the wine is far more refined, the dry, cedar bark and blackberry nose and entry is smoother, but still quite tannic; there is a lot of oak. A tasty wine without doubt, but prod... • Quite the sea change in Bordeaux as prices seem a bit more affordable these days (as opposed to the 2009 bull rush just 5-6 years ago), and it appears they have a vintage that strikes the right balance between cool and warm. Not a too hot or too cold year that is, probably the first one like it since 2008.Eyeing Grand Puy Lacoste at $53/each, Du... Read More

  • Chateau Cantemerle Haut-Médoc 2006

A little astringent yet but very. Doses of red berry fruits, blackberry and violets on the nose that follow to the palate well. Additional spice, earth and framing tannins balanced with good acidity leave leaves wanting more. Still has 3-5 years left. Drink or hold - 91 points - Paul Read More

  • We had our annual wine club Christmas party scheduled for Saturday night. ... ... night. ... had this-3. 2006 Chateau Cantemerle (Haut-Medoc) -  1st, I've drinking this wine for a couple of decades.  It is reasonably priced for good Bordeaux and unpretentious with a purity of place.
