Château Boyd-Cantenac

+33 5 57 88 90 82 MARGAUX , 33460
France

Created 1754 by Jacques Boyd, of Irish origin, the estate was purchased by John Lewis BROWN in 1806, who was related to the Boyd family by marriage. Since the wines from Boyd-Cantenac had been recognised and traded for a century, in 1855 the Château was classified Third Growth, in the Grand Cru classification of the Bordeaux wines. The estate belonged to the Ginestet family, once owner of Chateu Margaux, before coming to the current owners in the early 1930s. After the economic crisis which greatly affected the vineyards after the first world war, Pierre Guillemet brought Botd-Cantenac back to life in the sixties. Since, its wines regularly bring their contribution to the Art of Living and to the expression of the terroir of Margaux. Not following changing and short-lived fashions, Boyd-Catntenac remains true to the style of traditional Margaux wines. – Description from Dragac

  • Hey everyone, what's the buzz in the US right now about buying Bordeaux 2009 En Primeur?I have never known a vintage to be so 'talked-up' by the press.  Investors are hanging on to Parker's index fingers waiting with drooling tongues and wagging tails for it to spout forth its Midas touch.  This is THE vintage of the last 100 years folks.  Broke... • I know we are all in full gift mode right now, so it’s time to take a look at some of the top wine buys in the marketplace. You can always scramble after the “Best vintage anywhere, ever!” but the truth is that much of the hoopla that surrounds the “best” vintages is based on the potential of the vintage.  I don’t know about your friends and fam... • Château Boyd-Cantenac Red Bordeaux Blend Margaux 2005

    Snoothrank:

One of the best Margauxs of the 05 vintage for early consumption, in addition to keeping locked up in the cellar for decades. Loads of dark, smokey fruit. Good acidity and tannins that are solid, yet seductive, a long finish and a very memorable wine. Most of the bottles I bought, I already consumed, because it's just that good ! One of the be... • I just can't help but feel like both WA and WS are rating wines higher then they have in the past. These thoughts are coming from my true love in wine, Barolo. I remember reading reviews on wines from 1996, 1998, 1999, 2001 (all great vintages) and for some of the best producers in that region I would see scores of 90 - 94 for some of the best... Read More

  • So it's getting to be that time again. The wine boards are buzzing with questions about what the Wine Spectators wine of the year might be. traditionally the WOTY tends to get a 25% bump in price over night as the crowds vie for the remaining bottle languishing on retailers shelves. For fun lets take a look at the wines of the year that have com... Read More
