Château Bouscaut

At Bouscaut we pride ourselves in producing wines that express the terroir in the purest tradition of the Classified Growths of Bordeaux. The Bouscaut reds have a strong Merlot character which makes them unusual for the region. Cabernet Sauvignon does however make up 40% of the blend, endowing it with a lot of sappiness. As for the Cot or Malbec varietal, it adds to our wine’s originality with its hint of easily distinguishable spiciness. Over the last few years our wines have become more accessible and pleasant when still young, than previously. They are of course also wines with great aging potential that remain attractive and exciting well beyond fifteen years, should you have the patience to wait for them. Our reds make a harmonious match for rare roast beef, herbed roast lamb accompanied with vegetables or creamy oven-baked potatoes… They can also hold their own with various types of game. – Description from iskicm

  • In past posts here on the Forum I have confessed that I regularly drink inexpensive wines.  In fact, I have been doing less of that, lately, but last night I picked one out of the rack that, pretty much, blew me away;  Epicuro 2009 Salice Salentino -- US$4.99 at Trader Joe's.This wine is a blend of Negroamaro (80%) and Malvasia Nera (20%) grapes... • If I were anywhere near New York on the 29th I'd be going to this event. Great wine, interesting winemakers, and lots of old posters, art nouveau or otherwise. Why is it I'd rather have one of them on my wall then a Flash banner ad from the Web?Price seems like more than a bargain, and the money goes to charity, too....   ... Here's your chance ... Deep ruby color with rims turning to garnet, good nose of intense and developing flavor of blackcurrant, smoke, blackberry and liquorice. Good acidity to keep the wine lively, with high but round tannin, medium+ body, medium intensity and blackberry, smoke, blackcurrant palate of good length. Good quality and can be kept for a few more years to ... Read More

  • Château Bouscaut Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend Pessac-Léognan Blanc 1998

    Snoothrank:

Parker really disliked this one, but I found it much better than he gives it credit for. Powerful nose; smooth on first taste. Not as much fruit as Id like, but notes of tobacco, cedar, chocolate-covered cherries, and tar. The tannins had mellowed nicely. Mid-length finish. Read More
