Charles Shaw Winery

NAPA, CA View map

The Charles Shaw label is best known for producing wines of “extreme value.” These became popular when marketed exclusively out of Trader Joe’s grocery chain for $1.99, known commonly as “Two Buck Chuck.” It is owned by the Bronco Wine Company out of Ceres, California. The wines are produced from the usual suspect grapes, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Zinfandel (as White Zinfandel “blush” wine). The Valdiguie style is produced to mimic Beaujolais Nouveau wines, and Pinot Grigio in limited quantities.

  • I do like your wine, but, getting the cork out hard, and when you do, can not put the cork back in, this has happened in the past and I forgot, bought today, got cork out, but can not remove cork, from my cork screw, nor put back into bottle.

  • Had the Shiraz yesterday, was given to me. Would never drink it again, quality was very low and I had no idea how much it costs till now.

  • Charles Shaw Pinot Grigio California 2010

The Pinot Grigio is an excellent wine. My only recommendation is that do not use the artificial cork. It is very difficult to open. Use instead Screw Cap. (Matanza Winery is using it!) Easier to open and less expensive for you. You should consider also to 1.5 liter bottles. Andre, San Rafael, CA Read More

  • i have bought a bottle of Shiraz wine. Terrible taste, and there is sediment on the side of the bottle and a lot on the bottom. What kind of wine is this? Looks and taste like they scraped out the bottom of the barrell.

  • Charles Shaw Red Blend California Nouveau 2013

First, it is a $3 wine. It's a bit thin and lacks complexity. On the other hand, it has a bit of fruitiness and has no offensive characteristics. Rating takes a bit of a boost based on price. Read More

  • Yes I have something to say about Charles Shaw Winery. Why did the winery change the formula for the White Zinfandel wine?? Bottled in 2012 the wine is about two shades darker and red instead of pink. also it taste quite different. Goes down like sandpaper. Very disappointed with it. Good customer gone.

  • If anyone has tried this quiet and extremely affordable wine, you will no doubt be surprised by it's quality. For the price and consistancy, it has a great following. All I can say is to try it. You just might be surprised.
